This tutorial will allow you to filter caches on a route using MapSource and GSAK. For example, let's says that you are planning a road trip and you are interested in only finding the caches along your route, within 100m from the road.

By using a combination of MapSource & GSAK, you are able to accomplish this easily.

First, lets start by using MapSource and plot a route.

MapSource
Here we have created a two point route using the route tool. MapSource will calculate a route.

Next, we'll export this route as a MPS file. Saving as a GPX will result in a straight line. MPS will save each route segment, perfect for use purpose.

That's it. Now, the rest of the work is done within GSAK.

GSAK
We'll assume that you have a number of waypoints already in GSAK by way of Pocket Queries.

Next, we'll create a new search filter.
From the menu bar, select Search | Filter. Then go to the Arc/Poly tab.

Next click Load from file. Here we'll load the MPS file that we just saved in MapSource. We'll also specify .1 (100m) as the distance. At this point we can save this filter, or continue with the other filter tabs (if you are a power user).

Finally click GO, the resulting waypoints will be displayed. (Note: results will vary depending on how many waypoints you have in GSAK).

At this point, we can export the resulting waypoints as a GPX file or send to out GPS unit.
